About

Unity Aikido

Unity Aikido teaches Tomiki style Aikido for children and adults. Aikido is a Japanese martial art which builds confidence and fitness as it develops self defence and sporting skills.

IN HOBART: We have classes for primary age children from three years upwards on Tuesday 4.30 to 5.30 during the school term. We have juniors (11-16) and adults classes Tuesday and Thursday 6-7 with seniors continuing up to 8pm.

IN DODGES FERRY: children and adults class Saturday 2-3 pm during school term, seniors continue to 4.30pm 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.

Our teachers/ Senseis, are all National Coaching Scheme accredited and highly trained in Aikido. We ensure our classes are enjoyable for children and adults with enough discipline to make them fun and safe, even for shy children.

Our Headmaster; Hanifa Leoni Macfarlane introduced this style of Aikido to Australia in 1970. She has an 8th Dan, award of the JAA in 2011. Unity Aikido Is recognised by the Japan Aikido Association, (founded by Tomiki Shihan,) as an affiliated organisation with its independent Tomiki style Aikido syllabus under the direction of our headmaster.

We also have a branch in Broken Hill, NSW.
